Rubyfruit Café became a viable idea one snowy February day in Maine. My best buddy Diane and I were enjoying a latte at our favorite café and I was boring her to distraction, yet again, with my obsession over the affects of YouTube on our society. I find it a fascinating study on human kind…but then…I won't bore you with my pedestrian anthropological theories. I will say, YouTube demonstrates our universal desire to uncover truths about each other, along with a wee bit of voyeurism lurking within most of us. The idea of a global community based on our commonality of surviving the human experience in spite of our individual governments, is inspiring. However, I do have to admit that there are some overbearing problems with YouTube. It is chaotic, mostly sophomoric and very few lesbians, I mean real lesbians are to be found. So I thought...wouldn't it be great to have the same kind of global experience just for lesbians? Only less chaotic, possibly less sophomoric (of course our humor is never sophomoric...more junior or senior level) and lots and lots more lesbians. In fact…all lesbian all the time. And so, two months and many snow storms later I have finished the groundwork for Rubyfruit Cafe. Now all I need is the global community, which is where you come in by sending us your thoughts, your pictures, your videos, your jokes...anything. This could be a really fun, informative and collaborative lesbian world....so, please join us. Hope to see you in the Café! Carolyn |
